1. Decide Where You Want To Install Your Garage Door Opener.

Choosing the location of your garage door opener is a big part of the process, as you need to take your space into account. Once you figure out a good location for your garage door opener, you want to mark it with a pen or pencil. When placing your garage door opener on the wall, you’ll want to look for the chain sprocket. The chain sprocket is the chain that connects to the teeth. Once you locate the chain sprocket, you need to ensure that it is on the outside so it can be replaced when it comes time.

2. Install The Track

When doing this step, you will want to have the level close to you. This is due to the fact that during this step, you want the track to be flush with the wall. In addition, the track needs to be parallel to the floor. To ensure that the track gets installed properly, you will need to grab your pen or pencil. Once you have your writing utensil, you want to use a stud finder to find your studs. When you find your stud, you will want to mark it with your writing utensil. The track needs the support of at least two studs for the weight. Once you find at least two tracks, you will need to drill to screw the track in.

3. Install The Tension Spring

After you get the track installed, you will need to install the tension spring. To do this you will want the tension spring to be attached to the opener track. If you need to adjust the tension spring, you can do that. However, depending on the manufacturer, there should be instructions on how to properly adjust your spring.

4. Install The Vertical Rail

Just like the track, the vertical rail needs to be parallel to the floor. The difference from the track is that the vertical rail also needs to be flush with the edge of the garage door.

5. Install The Wheels

You’re almost done! Now you will need to install the wheels. Make sure to have them flushed and parallel to the floor.

6. Install the Opener

Last but not least is to install the opener. The opener will need to be installed on the rail. To do this, you will want to keep in mind that the chain sprocket faces the rail and the spring. After that, you will need to attach the lock-off lever and the safety bracket to the opener. And the last step is to ensure all connections are level and secure.
