If you decide to paint your garage door, you can try to freehand your holiday decorations. However, an easier way is to grab a tri-fold project board and trace out your plan. Once everything is outlined on the project board, you can cut it out and place some double-sided tape to hold the board in place. Once the board is in place on your garage door, you can simply paint an outline around the board. After all your paint outlines are done, go in and paint!
Make It 3D
Similarly to the painting idea, you can use the tri-fold board to make 3D objects. This way, you can have the same fun as painting your holiday garage door decorations but without the clean-up afterward.
Using the same process as the “wanting to paint?” section, there are some minor adjustments to make. The main difference in this process, however, is that while you have your front pieces made from the painting process, this process requires you to make portions for the sides. This is what helps to make it 3D. The benefit of this process is that your objects really pop, and you can make anything from ornaments to a snowman. The colors for everything you make can be completely customizable as well.
If Not 3D, Try 2D
It is understandable if making 3D objects sounds a bit challenging. It is also time-consuming as well, and that’s okay. So that’s why we thought about the 2D version. Here you can do all the steps in the 3D version except for making the side portion.
This is a great option if you want to have your holiday garage door decorations slightly pop without having the same cleanup process as the painting option offers.
